Phillip Keenan

COMPANY DIRECTOR

As a child Phil grew up in the Surf Life Saving culture, spending time surfing and volunteering at the beach. This upbringing, of helping others, combined with a love of all things business, led Phil to Accounting. Phil has been a part of the Bishop Collins team since 2009. Upon graduating from Newcastle University in 2004, Phil went on to complete his CA in 2007 and his Master of Taxation in 2012. Phil’s greatest strength is his ability to review existing business structures and improve a client’s position from both an income tax and asset protection perspective. These are valuable skills to possess as they are transferable across all accounting fields. Allowing Phil to broaden his expertise and advise clients in the areas he is most passionate about – Property Investment and Development. Phil describes himself in three words as Honest, Driven and Determined. All great qualities which are demonstrated with us every day at Bishop Collins and contributed to his promotion to a Director of the company in 2017. Away from work Phil is an outdoors, family guy. Anything to do with keeping fit, Phil enjoys doing it – surfing, cycling, swimming, running, the gym are some of his favourites. An ideal weekend for Phil is camping trips with the family close to the beach, with the annual Christmas trip to Seal Rocks being his favourite time of the year. Phil has two gorgeous girls, Millie and Isla, who are the apple of his eye and whom will always be his greatest achievements.

Glenn Harris

COMPANY DIRECTOR

Glenn is one of the Bishop Collins Directors, who brings a fun and professional dynamic to the team. As a child Glenn chose to be an Accountant over a vet as he discovered, through work experience, that he loved using numbers and being part of a team. Glenn loves being a problem solver. His passion for Accounting is continually being fuelled through helping clients when they feel they have a problem too big. Glenn loves giving clients hope for the future and reassuring them “everything will be ok”. Glenn started his Accounting career as a cadet in 1990 alongside doing his degree. By 1995 Glenn was a qualified Chartered Accountant. Glenn has a broad knowledge of the Accounting spectrum. Having owned his own practice “Harris and Associates” for 7 years, Glenn now loves to focus on business restructuring, property transactions and being a “sounding board” to businesses needing financial advice. When asked to describe himself in 3 words Glenn demonstrates his humorous personality in his reply of: “funny, handsome and intelligent”. His greatest achievement in life so far is being a proud dad of his 2 children. Away from Bishop Collins Glenn loves mountain bike riding adventures, spending time with the family and doing housework – “It’s true, I love it”.

Establishing and working in his own successful accounting practice from 2007 to 2021 was not only achieved through prior experience gained, but also the range of qualifications and continued development throughout his career. Growing up, one of Tim’s greatest interests was his music. While his musical pursuits led him to consider a career as a musician, his skill with numbers and critical thinking drew him to the field of accounting after he realised its potential to help people in business. Working in his family’s small business from a young age, Tim knew that owning a business is a challenge on its own merits and wanted to allow business owners to focus on their core business and utilise his expertise to navigate their regulatory matters. Tim’s greatest achievement and joy is his family. On the weekends you will find Tim hiking, running, playing tennis, gardening, or playing music at church along with is 4 children and wife Louise. Juston Jirwander

COMPANY DIRECTOR

Company Director, Juston Jirwander was lucky enough to grow up knowing he had a passion to help people succeed. Not sure of how to apply this to his work life, Juston studied a Bachelor Business with a double major in Accounting and Finance at UTS. This led him to working in Chartered Public Practice, where he was able to begin his journey into accounting. After 8 years in Public Practice, Juston branched out and went on to spend the next 20 years running a range of his own businesses, from start-ups to buyouts. During this time his career highlights involved growing a company to $13 million in revenue, becoming Chairman of a public company with a turnover of approximately $100 million, and being the advisor to public boards Nationally and abroad. The pull to help other businesses led Juston back to Public Practice, where he applied his business knowledge and successes to help multiple businesses grow and flourish. At Bishop Collins, Juston views his main role as a trusted advisor to be able to see opportunities and dangers for clients, before they become aware of them. His diverse experience in business is an asset in the industry as it allows him to approach each client’s circumstance with the knowledge of, owning a business, as well as the expertise in accounting and finance. Combine this with Juston’s genuine interest in seeing each client reach their goals, and his likeable personality, you could possibly consider him a “triple threat”. Growing up playing soccer and martial arts, it’s no surprise Juston spends his time out of the office being active and inquisitive of new adventures. Hiking, bike riding and traveling to physically difficult places of natural beauty with his family, is where you will find him. Describing himself in only three words, Juston says he is; personable, playful and strategic. Fantastic qualities that have ultimately led him through the success he has had personally in business, and to help others prosper in their own goals.

Johan Van Der Westhuizen

COMPANY DIRECTOR

Johan Van Der Westhuizen has been with Bishop Collins Audit since 2018. In that time he has successfully worked his way into the role of Company Director. Johan brings an enormous wealth of knowledge and expertise to the Bishop Collins Audit team. Attending university in South Africa, Johan completed a Bachelor in accounting with honours, and went on to do a Masters in forensic accounting. With a love of forensic accounting Johan, began his career in 2000 in South Africa as a trainee. It wasn’t long before he had a list of satisfied clients. Johan can now also boast he has his professional membership on two continents, one of his career highlights. It wasn’t always the plan to be an accountant/auditor. Growing up Johan dreamt of being an International Pilot. However, the love of an accounting subject while in school, changed all that. Contrary to most people thinking that accountants work with numbers, Johan believes that accountants and auditors work with people and this is the most rewarding aspect of being an auditor. Growing up on a wine farm in South Africa, Johan spent a lot of his childhood outdoors. He played rugby union and cricket at school. Johan is not shy to admit that one of his greatest achievements was probably one of the hardest things he has had to overcome, quitting smoking. His other greatest achievement, almost a contradiction to the first, is completing two full ironman triathlons. On the weekends Johan enjoys spending time with the family, doing the weekend chores around the house and exploring the country he now calls home. When asked to describe himself in three words he chooses; compassionate, sincere and ambitious. All qualities reflected in Johan’s day to day life at the office and when working with clients.
