The HLB Mann Judd Australasian Association consists of 9 independent member firms and 3 representative firms, located in major cities and regional business centres in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. The firms’ specialists provide advice and services to a large and diversified client base that includes growing businesses, governments, not for profits and individuals.

The Mann Judd Australian Association was formed in the early eighties and in 1988 we became a member of the HLB International, the global advisory and accounting network.

Aidan Smith

Partner

Aidan has extensive audit experience and specialises in providing audit and accounting services to not-for-profits. He is head of HLB Mann Judd's national not for profit group and advises the Exclusive Not For Profit (ENFP) alliance with Commonwealth Bank of Australia. In addition, Aidan has a wide variety of other clients covering private companies, listed entities and subsidiaries of overseas corporations with turnover from $1m to over $200m, and in industries including manufacturers, retailers and computer software developers. He also has experience in fraud investigations and due diligence assignments. Aidan is highly respected for his knowledge of Accounting and Auditing Standards, has provided advice on Accounting Standards to many of his clients, and has given a number of presentations on accounting technical issues. A results based practitioner recognised throughout the industry for his knowledge and expertise, Aidan is widely regarded for his technical strengths, personal approach and ability to add value to his clients while assisting them in meeting their compliance needs. Alexander King

Partner

Alexander King is a partner who practices in tax consulting and compliance. Alexander has extensive experience in corporate taxation, advising businesses (both publicly and privately-owned) across a range of industries including funds management, property, agribusiness and transport. Aside from domestic taxation issues, Alexander is experienced in advising on international tax issues, having spent time in New York with an HLB International member firm. Alexander has experience in a number of specialist areas, including: assisting fund managers on tax matters relating to the establishment and operation of funds, including MIT/AMIT eligibility and TOFA providing transaction advisory services for clients undergoing business transactions and restructures, including application of the tax consolidation regime advising clients on property transactions, including on matters relating to CGT, GST and stamp duty implementing investment structures that optimise commercial and taxation outcomes assisting taxpayers in with tax disputes and obtaining rulings. Alexander is committed to creating value for clients through understanding their individual needs and delivering practical outcomes. He is regarded for his ability to advise on complex tax matters, combining his knowledge of the tax legislation with an understanding of commercial and industry specific issues. Alexander is across the latest tax developments and advises clients on the impacts of legislative changes. He has published numerous articles addressing a range of tax issues. Amanda Sweeting

Director

Amanda joined the firm as a graduate in 2008. She has over 11 years' experience specifically relating to audit and assurance process. Amanda has developed industry knowledge in funds management, AFS licences, charities, not-for-profit entities and private-public partnership transaction, working with both listed and private entities. This has given Amanda the opportunity to be exposed to more complex areas of work which has benefited her clients. In 2012 Amanda took part in our secondment program and set off to our international affiliate in Chicago. This international experience enabled Amanda to broaden her thinking and her approach to auditing, which has benefited her clients upon her return to Sydney. Amanda is regarded for being professional and responsive in her service approach to meet the needs and deadlines of her clients. Andrew specialises in assisting business owners and their families with achieving their long-term strategic objectives. He is passionate about developing and implementing realistic, workable and sustainable strategies that are tailored to and benefit business owners, their families and their businesses. Andrew has a high level of expertise and experience in advising private and family owned businesses across a range of industries including construction, hire & rental, IT, retail, manufacturing, cleaning services, design, hospitality, and marketing. Andrew believes in developing deep working relationships with his clients and enjoys working closely with them on strategic planning, performance improvement, accounting and tax compliance, succession planning and business consulting. Andrew Kennedy

Andrew is the key risk adviser in HLB Insurance Services; HLB Mann Judd Sydney’s in-house insurance division. He is an experienced financial adviser specialising in personal risk protection strategies customised to clients’ unique and individual needs, with 14 years’ experience in holistic and risk-specialist advice. Andrew’s objective is to demystify life insurance for Australians by breaking through the layers of complexity that often surround the insurance discussion with clients. Andrew has undertaken a Bachelor of Financial Services degree to broaden his education beyond the Advanced Diploma of Financial Planning, and continues his ongoing professional development through education and active participation in the conversation on the insurance industry. In addition to Andrew’s work as our risk adviser, he is also in training to become a Lieutenant in the Australian Army Reserve. Andrew Yee

Director

Andrew heads the Self Managed Superannuation team in Sydney. He joined HLB Mann Judd Sydney in 2001 from the Australian Taxation Office in which he held senior roles in the areas of Income Tax, SME Audit, GST and Superannuation. Andrew’s expertise lies in superannuation. He provides advice to superannuation funds with a focus on SMSFs and high net wealth investors in the areas of taxation, retirement planning, audit and regulatory compliance. He is one of the “Top Gun” specialists in HLB network and widely recognised as one of the foremost advisors on SMSFs in Australia. Not only is able to provide high level technical advice, but also able to tailor that advice on a practical and commercial level. Andrew has that “peripheral vision” that is rare amongst advisers these days. He is able to see things and anticipate scenarios and then provide outcomes that are in the best interests of his clients. Andrew is a widely sought after presenter at seminars and a thought leader that is regularly quoted in the media, such as The Sydney Morning Herald, The Australian, The Australian Financial Review and Money Magazine.
