RAINER AHRENS

Rainer is a financial technician who sees past the numbers, systems and processes, to the people behind the business. Priding himself on the relationships he builds, Rainer believes that “the more you get to know your clients, the better the service you can provide.” To that end, he makes sure that he becomes their trusted advisor by “going through the seasons with them” and making good on what he promises to deliver. An integral part of this, is added value. He goes over and above the requirements of compliance, process, and reporting to get “behind the mask” of the people and the business. Finding out about the unique underlying issues, challenges and opportunities, he seeks to provide long-term strategies for success. With 19 years’ in the industry, Rainer specialises in working with private businesses and local subsidiaries of foreign corporations, including ASX listed companies, large foreign owned groups, and start-ups. Performing due diligence, internal and external audits, control reviews, statutory compliance, consolidations, and feedback on control environments, including control assurance services. Rainer works with clients looking for more than audit and assurance. ALISON ANDERSON

DIRECTOR, AUDIT & ASSURANCE

Approachable, down to earth and great at problem solving are the essential qualities that Alison brings to her work with every client. Her tenacity and drive help her ensure each project is carefully managed to completion. Alison’s ability to recognise the unique skills in her team has also proven beneficial to her work, and she believes that ‘being considerate and grateful for those around you is rewarding for everyone’. This underpins her relationships with clients whom she likes to keep well informed of any developments to ensure there are never any ‘nasty’ surprises. Specialising in audit and assurance, over the years Alison’s work has encompassed a variety of industries from tourism to manufacturing. Having managed a historic lodge in a remote part of Auckland, Alison understands and appreciates business through her own hands-on experience. This knowledge has infiltrated her work with small businesses, not for profits, government and non-government entities. Her drive to mentor and inspire young graduates is highly regarded throughout William Buck. ‘Remembering your limits are self-imposed and not based on your actual capabilities’ is a mantra Alison strongly stands by. Her main advice to mentees is to ‘ask plenty of questions, and don’t be afraid to try something new’. AMANDA ANDERSON

DIRECTOR & CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

A Chartered Accountant with over 30 years’ experience, Amanda is responsible for the daily operation of William Buck in South Australia. Her broad experience working both in, and with, businesses closely aligns with William Buck’s role as a trusted advisor to small-to-medium-sized enterprises. Throughout her career, Ms Anderson has worked with a Big Four accounting firm in SA and overseas and been a Chief Operations Officer and Chief Financial Officer of various SMEs. With high level financial acumen and a proven track record in risk assessment and management, strategy development and implementation, Amanda works closely with the executive team in driving the future growth of William Buck. Amanda was appointed a Director in July 2021; the William Buck South Australia’s first non-client facing Director. Amanda holds a Bachelor degree in Accounting, is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Certified CEO with The CEO Institute and Associate Member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. Amanda is also Chair of the William Buck General Managers’ Focus Group, collaborating with the Group team to create sustainable operations for success and growth. PETER ANDREASSEN

PRINCIPAL, BUSINESS ADVISORY

Persistence and adaptability are the two characteristics of Peter’s personality that define his professional approach and drive to help his clients achieve their goals. He won’t stop until he’s got the best result available. Peter emphasises the importance of truly understanding client needs and goals from the very first meeting. He believes this holistic approach and effective communication are both key to delivering successful outcomes. As Principal in the Business Advisory division, Peter assists his clients with the preparation of financial reports and tax returns for entities including individuals, partnerships, trusts, companies, and superannuation funds. Peter specialises in Self-Managed Superannuation Funds. Whether it’s technical tax updates, industry specific updates or soft skill improvements, Trent is motivated to improve and push himself out of his comfort zone every day. “I am cognisant of when expert direction is required and can utilise the right people from my professional network to get timely, accurate advice.” Being a very people orientated person, Trent understands the importance of building strong relationships with his clients. He believes that this foundation of trust encourages open communication, which in turn enables him to provide the best service using a more holistic approach. Growing up in a small rural town in the wheat belt of Western Australia, it is from these roots Trent has learned how the importance of teamwork, accountability and leadership are to success, in both business and life. In addition to specialising in the Health and Property Development industries, Trent also stays true to his upbringing, with a focus in Agribusiness. Trent is a member of the National Health Services Focus Group driving the growth of this specialist industry. With a sense of personal integrity Trent holds back none of his time and energy when completing each assignment to ensure the results are delivered.
