Alex Petrakis is a founding principal of Rothsay Chartered Accountants. He has more than 35 years’ experience working with small to enterprise level companies to multi-national organisations – supporting a range of sectors in both regional and urban environments. In addition, Alex has held numerous non-executive Chairman positions providing investment, development, and financial modelling strategies. Alex operates with excellent senior stakeholder engagement skills, combing a deep practical understanding of decision-making processes, analytics, policy and strategy to support successful business outcomes. In his role as Partner over 30 years’, Alex has instilled fundamental client relations, expectations built around the behaviours of Relationship, Innovations, Service and Excellence. This extends to the interpersonal working relationships between the carefully selected staff at Rothsay.

Daniel has over 21 years in Audit, Assurance and Corporate Advisory experience. Having spent 15 years working at both Big-4 and mid-tier accounting firms, during that time Daniel has gained exposure to servicing a broad range of clients and industries. As an assurance practitioner Daniel has significant experience in the areas of financial services, funds management, mining and exploration, building and construction, professional services and not-for-profit. Daniel role is to ensure the delivery of exceptional customer service in a timely fashion while demonstrating Rothsay’s core values of building professional relationships, providing innovative solutions and drawing on his own and the wider teams experience. Daniel was appointed to Partner at Rothsay in November 2016 and is a Registered Company Auditor and a CA Business Valuation Specialist.

Ghafur joined Rothsay in 2019 as a business advisory and tax partner. For over 20 years and as a Chartered Accountant he has specialised in scaling up and succession for family businesses, multinationals, and private wealth clients working in industry as well as Big 4, mid tier and boutique advisory firms. His approach brings clarity and rigour in addressing a broad range of strategic issues relating to scaling up through mergers and acquisitions, international tax treaty impact on cross border activities, capital raising support, strategy design and finance function effectiveness. From a succession perspective, his deep technical and broad industry experience provides a systematic framework in architecting tax effective structures, asset protection, facilitating governance, designing ESOP’s as well as advising on divestment transactions. Ghafur also serves on a number of Not for Profit boards as a way of using his deep experience to give back to the community. Whether it’s helping clients or his team, Ghafur believes trust is built on intimately understanding each other’s “Why”.

James is a Business Services Partner assisting clients with both Direct and Indirect Tax Compliance as well as Self-Managed Superannuation. His main role is acting as a trusted business adviser to his clients while ensuring that all compliance matters are managed in a timely and efficient manner. James has also acted as a Resident Director for inbound international clients as well as Domestic Not for Profits. James has been a Chartered Accountant for nearly 15 years and has always been interested in new technologies that allow his clients to work smarter, not harder. He was one of the first at Rothsay to become Xero Certified and believes that a proactive relationship with clients and his team generates the best possible results.

Steve has been working with small and medium sized businesses owners since 2007 across various industries. Having gained extensive experience and knowledge in achieving business growth and development and succession planning, he is well equipped to provide the right advice for the modern business, Steve is passionate and has a personable approach to his clients to reach their financial goals. Steve is a member of Institute of Chartered Accountants and a Registered Tax Agent Outside work, Steve is dedicated family man and keen golfer and enjoys watching his beloved Souths Sydney play during the NRL season.

Graham is a registered company auditor and registered SMSF auditor with over 14 years’ experience as an audit partner at Hall Chadwick prior to joining Rothsay in 2022. Graham has experience in working with ASX listed entities; large private and public companies, AFSL entities and not for profit entities across a broad range of industries including technology, retail, education, trade unions and mining and exploration. Graham’s professionalism and communication skills are critical in allowing him to navigate clients through ever more complex accounting issues.
